It has been repeatedly noted in recent days, how the McCain/Palin campaign has veered off the straight and narrow and become the most dishonest in recent memory. Even the "Main Stream Media" has begun to cry foul on the tactics and assertions currently being used by the Republican pair. Almost every major media source has by now debunked the Palin version of the Bridge to Nowhere demise, as well as McCain’s constant lie about Obama raising taxes. The constant stream of negative ads emanating from the McCain/Palin campaign have been characterized as sleaze and outright lies, and reputable fact checkers have debunked them time and time again.
Given that the national economic skid downward, the loss of America's international prestige, as well as it's moral leadership over the past eight years has been greased by a steady stream of lies and half truths by the Republican hierarchy, it should be no wonder that the tactics adopted by McCain are the standard Rovian set. But complaining to each other is worse than useless, it’s demoralizing.
It’s time to stop complaining and to begin a concerted effort to push back against the choice that the McCain campaign has made to win dirty! Stop complaining to each other on liberal blogs and start writing protest letters to the media who uncritically publishes the smears. lies and false charges. Tell them it’s time to screen out the obvious lies and smears and limit the discussion to serious issues. Tell them to state the facts as such, not as some version of a political strategy. Tell them enough with the left-right commentators engaging in faux debates about easily verifiable facts. Tell them to fulfill their role as dispensers of facts and reliable information.
Don’t write blog posts, write/call the media, your friends and family and anyone else whose ear you can get. It’s time to swell the backlash!
Write Barack and tell him it’s time for a "More Perfect Union" type speech on truth and politics. It’s time to directly call out the McCain/Palin campaign on their tactics. Not whine, or complain, but a direct challenge, complete with chapter and verse on the disproved lies. At a time when our nation is in peril both on the home economic front and on the international conflict front, we need truth from our leaders and prospective leaders. We need honesty and facts, not lies, spin and PR.
If this is going to change, we have to be the ones to do it. Politicians can’t/won’t do it alone. Let’s be the change we want to see!
