We’ve had three days to deny, cry and look for scapegoats. It’s time to get to work!
I don’t care who woulda, coulda, shoulda… it’s done!
We have a country to try to save and friends and neighbors to keep safe. A safety net to protect and years of hard work to keep from going down the drain. We have no more time to kvetch, we have work to do. It’s time to get organized. Time to start raising the funds for a nasty and likely prolonged battle. We’ve got minds to change and people coalitions to build. So lets get to it.
We are the majority. Period. Lets start acting like the intelligent people we say we are. We need to begin our grassroots effort to put pressure on the once and future “conservatives”. We can start with a campaign to save Medicare and and the critical international agreements.
So… how do we start? How about here… (feel free to add your own priorities)
No Honeymoon – we must start organizing opposition to the Trump/Ryan/McConnell agenda now. Let them know that we oppose them on everything from the Supreme Court to Medicare restructuring to the gutting of the ACA. And their intended gutting of international security agreements.
We need to find a new voice. We cannot depend on a MSM interested only in generating clicks and profits any longer. We must find our own outlets for our messages. Time for liberal writers and thinkers to step up.
Increase our efforts to organize at the grassroots, mobilize those on our side and get them active. Complaining is not working, it’s only lip flapping. Time to tap into the expertise of labor and social movements to get people organized.
Renew our efforts to build and strengthen our coalitions among minorities, women, LGBTQ, religious communities, organized (and disorganized) labor, and yes among the wealthy liberal class.
We need to find a way to fund these efforts – Bigly!
The DNC and our political allies need to immediately stop sniping at one another and get back to work. If our leadership won’t lead, then the hell with them, we can do it from the grassroots. The campaign isn’t over, it is just getting started. We have had a major set back, time to get up off the floor and start fighting back.
I’ve been on this earth for over seven decades and I walk in the footsteps of Malcom, Martin, RFK, Mandela and Obama, as well as thousands of others who have struggled and fought. I march in the shadow of Susan B. Anthony and stand with the Stonewall and Wounded Knee activists. I’ve worn the uniform of this country and served in the government as a civilian. This is MY country and no lying, confabulating, conniving idiot and his unprincipled disciples is going to take it from me. The kids are in the streets, where are you? Get Organized!
I’m in! Let’s go
